I left Velden today at 8am sharp and, since it is a Sunday with no trucks and very few cars, i did this stretch in 2 1/2 hours. Inge says: It used to take 6 hours....but that's before the Autobahn.
The trip from Velden through Carinthia, then through the province of salzburg is simply breathtakingly beautiful. The weather, so far has been absolutely great. 90% sunshine from blue blue skies. You just have to look at the pictures to verify this. The mountains high and of a silvery grey, and the valleys deep and of multi shades of green. A farm tucked into this clearing and a castle up on top over there...can't you see it? The hotels from simple to simply stunning.
(with appropriate pricing)...It is so beautiful and the memories are so clear and precise, that i get a lump in my throat, just looking and remembering.
Tomorrow I'm off to Dresden...wish me luck...
