The Challenge !

"Hey, You! Stay away from her!
She's my chick!"

Crowned Cranes

One of the most spectacular birds of Africa is the "Crowned" or "Crested Crane".
Sofar I have always seen 2 or 4 of these magnificent birds at a time. During our Safari 2017 we happened upon a lake on which were assembled a minimum of 150 to 200 of them.

Here are some of them:

PUNS

A group of Chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were standing in the lobby, discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of his office and asked them to leave.
Why, they asked, do you want us to leave?
"Because", he said, "I cannot stand Chess nuts boasting in an open foyer"....

A woman had twins, but had to give them up right after birth.
One went to Spain and was called "Juan."
The other went to Egypt and was called "Amal"
Years later, Juan sent a pictures of himself to his biological mother, who upon viewing it, expressed the desire to also see a picture of Amal.
"But they are twins" said her husband, "if you've seen Juan, you've seen Amal."

Two more "Lilac Breasted Rollers"

Lilac Breasted Roller

Waterbucks

A Waterbuck couple in tall grass.

This couple, disappearing into the bush.

There is always the question:
"Why did Nature decide to place a white ring
on this animal's rear-end?"
One theory claims that this way the offspring
have an easier time to follow their elders.
( however, so have the predators!)

Lion Rising

Canusee'im ?

During a hiking Safari, you could almost step on him before you see him.
Fortunately he will see you long before you see him and he will take off in a hurry.
Unless... he is very hungry.😠

Dwarf Mongoos

A family of Dwarf Mongoose.

3 Skimmers & a Croc

Panning with my camera, I followed three skimmers up-river.
It was only when later I checked the images I discovered the Croc on the shore in the sand.

How "affordable" can it get ?

                                Here it is!
What we have all been waiting for:
A "Ladies Fee Paying toilet !"
 Belonging to
"Zambia's Most Affordable Network."

Bertstravels
had to look at it twice
before he saw that the "Affordable Network"
related to
airtel

Here is MY Leopard

I thought I'd let you look at a Leopard one more time.

Good by, Doggy-Dog-Dog

I am truly sad to have to tell you that today we had to bury
Doggy-Dog-Dog, or as I called him for simplicity's sake: Triple D.
A noble Airedale Terrier with the gentlest disposition of any dog I ever knew.
An inoperable carcinoma on his jaw forced us to make this decision.

The last picture, taken day before yesterday,
amid a meadow of cornflowers.

Just a little Chat....

... and, you won't believe this... didn't he make a pass at me ?
But I put him in his place! "How dare you?" I said. "I am not just one of your common Geese, with whom you have been seen in the neighbourhood. I am an Egyptian Goose!"

"Oh, yes, you are so right, I don't know what this world is coming to. One must almost be afraid to venture onto the street alone."

I could not agree with you more...

Quack, quack, quack...

and what is more: quack, quack, quack...

Leopard NOT hunting

Leopard "hunting" in his dreams

The Leopard Pups

PHOTOGRAPHICALLY SPEAKING
the following images are not very good.
It was still a bit on the dark side,
so I had to use slower shutter speed than would have been ideal

In such a situation one just cannot be too choosy.

I like the disappearing tail at the left.
