Favourite Images MUST BE VIEWED LARGE

Two of my all time favourite images:
above: "Lilly pads and Pine needles"
below: "Early on a foggy morning"

IF YOU DO NOT VIEW THESE
IN THE LARGE FORMAT
YOU WILL BE SEVERELY PUNISHED.

The smaller denizens of Algonquin Park

Small enough to sit on a lilly pad:
A young Painted Turtle

A 1 meter long Snapper.

\
The "Masked Marvel"
A Raccon on the prowl.

A Loon upon her nest.
On land, a very clumsy bird; in the water,
a strong swimmer and a clever diver.

The Milkweed in summer

I wondered if I could think up some titles
for these shots of the common Milkweed:
Above: Milkweed Fireworks

PLEASE VIEW ALL IN LARGE FORMAT

"Blowing in the wind"

"...a bad hair day"

"The Peacock"

I am certain you can think up better ones.
...let me know !!!

Sick of Winter? - Dream of Summer!!!

I'm so sick of winter that I decided to show you some
"Summer Fotos"
Above is Christin, relaxing in the sun on Andy's boat.
It was nice and warm that day
as the picture below surely proves.

If you needed more proof of how nice it was that day,
Here are 5 of 6 frolickers in the Georgian Bay.
The 6th, of course, was the man behind the lens.

And below is a shot of the lodge at Arowhon Pines
where we spent three glorious days with the temperature
in the "High 20s"

Hey, everybody!!!
Eat your heart out.
But first: Enlarge this image.

There are borders and then there are borders

Take the cable car to the top of the Zugspitze
and enjoy the incredible view.

The mountain sits right on the border between
Austria and Germany.
A tunnel, right through the mountain,
connects the two countries. Believe it, or not,
the border is indicated by the respective
signs of the two countries.

Right after the German sign, there is a small niche
hewn into the rock. I was told that in years gone by,
two border guards sat at a little desk and stamped
your passbord. If, because you were just on a little
sight seeing tour, you had not brought your passport,
you could not go to the other side of this tunnel,
since the other side was already in Germany.

Snow, Snow and more Snow

Yesterday afternoon it started to snow.
By this morning there were, according to the weather report, 47 cm
of the white stuff on the ground, with snow drifts
over 1.5 m. deep.
I tried to have some of this stuff shipped to Vancouver.
No such luck

Mainsquare (Hauptplatz ) of Bleiburg.
Our neighbour runs a Jewellery Store;
except for today: Today she shovels snow.

Our neighbour's bird house.

The wind kept most of the snow off the roof of my car.

Yes!! Lianne's Birthday - 1973

By the number of candles on this cake
I assume, Lianne was 10 years old.

Before you may open any present
you have to blow out the candles. Pffffft...

A new birthday dress is admired by Tante Inge.

And this "Austrian Dirndl" was worn on this occasion
and then never again.
