CANADA DAY

Tomorrow is the First day of July and all true Canadians may celebrate their good fortune to be the Citizens of this greatest of Countries. (Even though we may not always agree with our political leadership and their decisions.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

smart, smarter, smartest

There were those three friends, way beyond 85 years of age who went to a doctor to have a good examination:
The doctor asked the first one: "How much is three times three?
The first man said: 285.
The doctor could not figure out how this man arrived at this peculiar answer,
so he asked the second chap: How much is three times three?
The answer came without hesitation: "Monday".
In desperation the doctor asked the third man: "How much is three times three?"
The man suggested that this was really a question much too simple for a man of his intelligence and education: The answer , of course, is "Nine".
The doctor was relieved that at least one of them knew the right answer and asked,
"How did you figure this out?"
The third man said: "Simple! I just deducted 285 from Monday."

Bertstravels
thinks that this is very funny.
More pictures of ZimZam 2017 will be posted tomorrow.

Just be comfortable !!!

This is, beyond a doubt,
the most complicated structure of a resting place.

Some additional Africa Adventure

"Gonarezhou" means "The Place of Elephants"

and that is what it truly is.

The elephants of Gonarezhou are not necessarily a friendly bunch.
They built a defensive wall, clearly intending to tell us:
"Stay away, if you know what's good for you."

The haze in these images is sand, whirled up by these stomping beauties.

More Out Of Africa

Probably as good an image of  a Leopard at rest
as you'll ever get.

Two "Crested Cranes" getting to know each other.

Two "White Fronted Bee Eaters, already well acquainted.

This "Ele" told us in no uncertain terms
that she wanted no part of us.

A Sea-battle

Two Crocs, one submerged, have a little argument.

The Hippo settles this dispute, due to its size.

On the River

Lacking oil glands, a Darter dries his wings
by spreading them in the sun.

The "Yellow-billed Hornbill

What a beautiful, but noisy bird this is.
I regret that I do not have a sound track on this Blog.
Here are a couple of those birds..

Surely you did not expect to see a daytime shot of a Leopard or a Lion ?
Not on the first day!

Got it fixed

Of course, I could have brightened this pix.
But then, it would not have been the way we actually saw this cat.
There will be several more, daylight shots in the near future.

He sits there like a little house kitty.
Hed is, however, a most efficient hunter and killer.

Out Of Africa

I am back again. After an indescribably exciting 24 days in Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Back, I am happy to say, sound and fit for the next adventure.
I took a shameful number of images, for which I blame digital photography.
My ardent wish was to see, for the first time, a Leopard...
Success was ours on four different occasions. As time goes by, you will see them all.
For now:
The first encounter of this elusive cat happened during a night drive. Therefore this rather dark image:

I regret that my Blog is malfunctioning. It will not allow me to post a picture, which makes it totally useless.
You will have to wait until I can fix this problem.
