BAMBERG

There is a wonderful story connected with this Bamberg Townhall
erected in around 1386.
The Bishops, who ruled the city with an iron hand and fist
refused to grant any land for the erection of a secular administrative building
such as a Rathaus ( Townhall ).
So, the good Buergers of Bamberg decided to build their "Rathaus" in the middle of the Regnitz river,
over which the Bishops had no juristiction.

The Cathedral, full of astonishing works of art
was first built in 1004 to 1012.
It underwent a number of rebuildings and changes until today's structure dominates the Cityscape.

Along the Regnitz river, fishermen settled in an area, now referred to as "the Bamberg Venice"
I would classify that as a "slight exagerations".

I did not take too many pictures of Bamberg.
Try it sometime: Operate your camera with two hands
and hold your umbrella by squeezing it sideways under your chin.
