The Chilojo Cliffs

Ant's digs.

Yeah, we're heading to my place. There will be a tent, but it won't be a mosy-tent.
No crawling in and out on your hands and knees. You'll be walking upright, like a proud photographer must.
And there will be a bed with bedclothes.
And in the morning, after a proper ablution, and after you've rinsed the sleep out of your eyes, you will be looking at the most beautiful, most spectacular view imaginable.”

Although Ant, my friend and guide spoke in an exaggerated, theatrical, jocular manner, somehow there was the ring of proud truth in his voice.
The backdrop of your abode, the Chilojo Cliffs, will be lit in the early morning rays of the Sun, and it will shine in all colors of Red and Beige.”
Enough of the commercial” I laughed. “I can hardly wait to see it all.”
It was late evening when we arrived at Ant's encampment.

The sun had long gone down and we needed a strong oil lamp, or flash light, to find our way to the common area, where hot tea and a snacks were awaiting us.

His staff was all lined up to welcome us to this Oasis.
The following pictures were taken next morning, and after a day of recuperation and rest, our exploration trips were to begin.
Let this suffice to show you the luxury of “Ant's Place”. There were, of course, other tents and a comfortable common “living room”.

Here is my own, private tent.

A luxurious "bring your own water" shower stall

When you are out in a “mosy-tent” and you have to go, you take a spade and walk as far away from the tent as is safe. This then, along with this sophisticated, “bring your own water” shower is luxury personified.

What was it Ant had said?

The backdrop of your abode, the Chilojo Cliffs, will be lit in the early morning rays of the Sun, and it will shine in all colors of Red and Beige.”

and, by Jehoshaphat, Ant was right: The Glory of the morning was practically right outside my tent.

In the early morning haze, the Chilojo Cliffs present themselves with a promise.

The promised blaze of color has not yet made an appearance.
Let's wait till the Sun hits the rock.

What a change !!!

Here, the magician of Gonerazhu made the picture perfect.

A "Loner" makes his way to the River Runde
for his own refreshing morning drink.

Since Crocodiles hunt in deep water only ( or so they told me )
I thought. I too, would like a "refreshing morning drink".

What will tomorrow bring??
You'll just have to come back and take a look!
