Canada Vacation report # 7

Eine Bootreise am Anfang des St. Lawrence Flusses
bringt uns durch die 1000 Inseln Gegend (die eigentlich aus ueber 1800 Inseln besteht).
Einige der Inseln sind so klein, dass kaum ein Wochenendhaeuschen hinaufpasst,
andere sind so gross, dass eine genuegende Zahl von staendigen Bewohnern eigene Schulen, Geschaeftsviertel
Feuerwehr usw usf...benoetigt.

A boat trip through the 1000 Island region (consisting actually of over 1800 islands)
brings us past islands so small that they barely accommodate a small week end cottage
and others, so large that their permanent inhabitants
require their own school, shopping facilities, voluntary fire brigade and so on.

Die Grenze zwischen den USA und Canada laeuft so ziemlich inmitten
des Flusses und Inseln sind natuerlich auf beiden Seiten.

The border between USA and Canada runs pretty well down the middle of the river
and there are, of course, island on both sides.
