Above and Below:
The statue of Johan Phillip Palm.
J.P.P. was a publisher in Nuernberg. He published a book
under the title: "Germany at its lowest humiliation" (freely translated)
The book was highly critical of Napoleon and his murdering hordes
who had invaded Germany, pillaging and plundering, and killing randomly.
When JPP refused to release the name of the author, the French incarcerated him in Braunau
and then executed him on this City's outskirts.
The "Palm Park" and this statue are in his memory.
