This is the old part of Salzburg, and the Fortress on high. On the other side of the Salzach river, the new town streches out.This fortress too was started in 1077 by an Archbishop who was having a rather serious argument with the King. The argument was over the right to appoint Bishops: The King or the Pope? Anyway, I am really glad they had this little tiff...otherwise a lot of really nice tourist attractions would never have been built and Salzburg, while still having had Mozart, would be a little less attractive.....
Enough of Salzburg for a little while.....
