The Hofkirche, or " The Church of the Black Knights."

In 1553 Ferdinand I. commenced the building of
The Hofkirche
as Mausoleum for Emporer Maximilian I.
Besides the sacophargus and many brilliant works of art, this church contains
28 larger than life sized statues of Maximilian's alleged ancestors.
I say, "alleged" since the lineage claimed in many cases cannot be proven. How does one, for instance, prove the lineage back to England's King Arthur, whose very existance as a historical, rather than a mystical figure, is in serious doubt?
Do not, however, look at this as a historical monument, but consider it as the great work of art it is,
to which such Greats as Albrecht Duerer contributed.
