Das Weisse Roessl (The White Horse Inn)

Images taken during daylight.
This is about one third of the entire (about 5000 sq.ft.) stage area.

The "real" Weisse Roessl" is in St. Wolfgang
on Wolfgangsee.

Moerbisch: The "Seefestspiele"

The entrance to the "Seebuehne"
The "Stage in the Lake"

The entrance area

The people, (those who are lucky enough to hold a ticket)
gather well before the start of the performance (8.30PM)

with 6,300 seats
(I'm repeating some one elses information; I did not count them myself.)
Moerbisch boast the largest outdoor theatre in Europe.

The Storks of Rust

This is the main street of the very small community of Rust in the Austrian Province of "Burgenland"
on Lake Neusiedel, on the very border with Hungary.
Rust is located almost precicely between the towns of St. Margarethen and Moerbisch.
St. Margarethen, in the "Roemersteinbruch" ( the Roman Quarry) has the magnificient setting for Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata"
(for which I have a ticket for tonight)
and Moerbisch, on its stage in the Lake, has a spirited performance of
"the White Horse Inn"
an Operetta with many memorable melodies. (In fact, the only disturbing(?) thing was that many people sang along with
the very popular melodies.

Rust and its storks...
small point of interest, which has nothing to do with storks.
The bough of evergreens, hanging at the front of this building,
as it hangs from many buildings, indicates that here
you may drink "Heurigen" Wein.
(this year's wine)

I am told that year after year
the same pair of storks come back to the same chimney
to build their nests.

The "Schreckeneders"

Herwig, at his Principal's desk.
He heads a very modern, beautiful Secondary School.

Ingrid, Herwig's lovely wife. Almost always smiling
and in good spirits. Ingrid is an Operating Room Nurse.

Johannes and his beautiful girl friend, Johanna.
They call her "JoJo" for short.
Unfortunately they pronounce it, of course, with the german "J". So it comes out: YoYo.
I suggested that, while Johanna may be a JoJo, she is no YoYo.

In St. Pantaleon

In the quietest area you can imagine Herwig and Ingrid
built their home. In fact, I refer to it as the prototype of the place where the fox and the hare
bid each other a Good Night.
BUT (and this is an important BUT) their home is only 30km from one of the most exciting cities:
Salzburg.

Ingrid, Herwig and Johannes at the Dinner Table.
Florian, Johannes' brother was in Vienna and could not join us.

It is beyond dispute, that Ingrid is
"one hell" of a good cook.

...and Florian can pour a Beer like
nobody else.
