Mozart's Place of Birth....
There is hardly a building which is photographed more often than "Mozart's Geburtshaus" It is said that he was borne in the room behind the 2nd floor middle window (open). The building, of course, houses a "Mozart Museum"...it would be nice if this Blog could carry music. I would let you hear "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" or any of the many many other compsitions which flowed from the pen of this absolute Genius.

Salzburg
Here is the welcoming committee of the city of Salzburg. As you can see, the official flag of Austria, flown only by high ranking Government Officials, flies side by side with the Canadian Maple Leaf. Theo and Christa awaited me with a State Banquet. Unfortunately they were not able to maintain the good weather. Therefore I returned to Braunau, where I also have proper access to the internet. (Theo's Internet is reachable via the telephone line, an arrangement with which I did not want to interfere.) That's why you have not heard from me in a few days. I will, however, catch up today.

Am Hoellerer See
Braunau War Memorial
This is the Memorial for both World Wars....the plaques on the wall list all the names of the Fallen of Braunau. It is interesting to note that during W.W. 1 about 150 soldiers who called Braunau their home died, while WW 2 demanded 520 victims....that is the loss of a good portion of the young males of a town of about 18,000. This memorial is located in the lower level of the "Old Church", just accross from the "New" Church...( I believe the "New" church was built in the 1700s...(how New can you get?) The names also list Theo Luigs, the first husband of my sister Irmgard and the father of Theo. ....Theo Sr. never saw his son....

My Headquarters
Tomorrow, if the weather holds as nicely as it has held for the past five days, (Blue sky and sun shine) I will drive to the "Hoellerer See" ( see if you can pronounce that, Lianne)
for a nice swim. Herwig owns a small strip of shore line there.
On Wednesday I will drive to Salzburg....
