"There are 2,500 lakes" you don't say!
How do you get from one lake to the next one?
That's a good question!
You carry everything you need over so-called 'Portages'
You carry:
The Canoe, the paddle, the tent, the food, the sleeping bag, the track-suit
the second shirt (warm) and most important, the Camera gear, including the tripod,
All of this and then some, you drag along the portage, over rocks and roots!
And, you ask, how long is such a portage?
It could be any length, from a 10 meter 'lift-over' to a 5 km up-hill, down-hill portage.
A medium portage is somewhere between 1 and 2.5 km.
and for this reason alone, you take nothing, and I mean 'nothing'
which is not absolutely necessary.
This is either a picture of my Son,
or, more likely, of me, several, and I mean 'several' years ago.
(very funny, says my Son)
I have wonderful memories of our trip to Algonquin with you and John.
