To the 'Montasio Plateau'

Yesterday we drove to Tarvisio in  Northern Italy, then onward  to
'Sella Nevea' and then another 6km to the Montasio Plateau, at about 1,200 meters elevation. ( a 2.5 hours journey from our home )
A steep, but well maintained, asphalted narrow road takes you through stunning mountain scenery directly to an 'Alm' where, they claim, Italy's best cheeses are being produced.
This, however, is the end of the road! Only a hiking path with rock climbing at the end will take you to the top of the 'jof di Montasio" ( the top of Montasio) at 2,754 meters elevation.
A bit too much for Christin and me.
Rather than climbing mountains I have to be satisfied with photographing them from the bottom.

On the road to Sella Nevea

A Village on the side of the road.

We have reached the High Plateau, The Alm,
where still many cows enjoy the lush Alpine grass
and the sunshine.

At the end of the drive-able road,
a rustic restaurant
and the Cheese production facility.
