Up the "Kömmel" and down again.

Now and then, some sunny afternoon I jump into my car and drive just "up the Kömmel"
Within about 300 meters from our house, the Kömmel rises.
A farm here and a week-end house there.
Every time there is something New to discover.

Beethoven must have been there when he composed his
"Symphony No. 6 !"

Wild Apple trees, with small apples galore. Actually not too bad to chomp away at.

I'm not sure whether they are "Rowanberries" or " Mountain Ash".
"Vogelbeeren"( Birdberries) is what the Austrian call them.

Here a farm and there a Village.
If you want to be alone, that's the place to go.

How would you like to live in this farm?
Steep slopes and woods all around you.
Great for a week or two, but then, boredom would drive me crazy.

The Village of St. Margarethen.
Not more than 10 houses, a farm here and another one over there.
There is no school, no hospital, no bakery, no butcher store,
no Grocery store, NO Nothing...
Sorry, there is, of course, a church.

 Didn't I tell you?
10 houses and a Church.

The beautiful "East Tirol"

Yes, I just got in my car and drove.
Then I drove some more, and then some more again.
250km later, I ended up in the middle of the Province of East Tirol.
As you can see, there was snow on the mountains.
In the Valley the temperature ranged around 27
give or take a degree or two.
I shall not describe the scenery! You can see it for yourself.
I shall not tell you the names of places,
since they probably would not mean anything to you.
There WAS another Austrian Province, called the "South Tirol".
Where is it now?
After WWI in the Treaty of St. Germaine,  this part of Austria was given to Italy.
The South Tirol is now called "Alto Adige."
At the beginning of WW II,
Adolf, as a sop to Benito, confirmed
that this part of the World will remain in Italian hands.
My next trip, given the limitations of Corona,
will take me to the South.

please  scroll  slowly:

Thank you for visiting "East Tirol" with me.

A Rose is a Rose is a Rose

that's what Gertrud Stein said
way back when.

It is very difficult, next to impossible,

NOT to photograph a Rose in our back garden.

Bert and John on Safari

John: "You think we'll see something?"
Bert: "Have you ever been in Gonarezhou without seeing something?"
John: "Not that I remember!"

John: "I think it is a Lion"
Bert: "Looks more like a Kudu""
John: " It coulda been a Lion.

John: "Whatever it is, it's coming our way."
Bert: "Then I hope it's not a Lion!"

Bert  & John: "Naw, it's just an Impala-"

A break in the Runde River, Gonerazhou, Zimbabwe

A quick dip and a wash-down
in the shallows of the Runde River is a true pleasure.
No Crocs, nor Hippos far and wide.

At that heat it is advisable to also cool off the inside of ones body.

Auf der Koralm

If you ever want to travel a winding road, try the one to the top of the "Koralm"

Is this what one calls a "bucolic scene"?
You can't get much more "bucolic" than that.

Is this really a question?

Who poisoned Alexej Nawalny?

A Berlin Clinic has now determined that Alexej Nawalny was poisoned with a Nerve-destroying toxin.

The finding, the Clinic states is absolutely beyond a doubt.

The question now rears its curious head: Who benefits?

Mr. Nawalny was an outspoken critic of Russia's President, Vladimir Putin and of his Government.

He was a most annoying thorn in the side of Comrade Putin from whom all important decisions and executive orders descend.

Of course, I have not the slightest evidence as to the identity of the person behind this dastardly act.

I do not know who ordered the attempt to murder Mr. Nawalny, nor do I know who actually committed this crime of attempted murder, (or possible murder). I will leave it up to future investigations ( if any should ever take place ) to unearth the facts.

This is, unfortunately, not the first killing (or attempted killing) of a Russian dissident, and likely won't be the last one.

So, please Europe, consider with whom you are doing business.

More of "a pun is a pun is a pun.

I wondered why the baseball kept getting bigger and bigger. Then it hit me.
